:: safety first

I bought a car restraint for Bertie today, after reading an article about how an unrestrained rear-seat passenger can kill the driver in an accident. Apparently even at town speeds, braking suddenly can send your back-seat pal flying into you with enormous force. There's also a fairly scary ad I saw in a cinema recently that shows a boy killing his mother in a prang. Lots of blood and screaming. Then there's this, from Pet Planet. Baby elephant! A baby elephant with bony elbows!

It's also for Bertie's own good -- a few times he's ended up in a heap in the footwell after a brisk traffic manoeuvre on my part. And just the other day he was panting out the window when he fell over, and caught his top jaw on the glass. I thought he'd broken a tooth, he carried on so much, but I think it was just fright and maybe a sore tongue.

Anyway, from now on we'll be motoring in complete safety. Heh.
