:: change of plans

I've done it - cancelled the Tibet trip. The deciding factor was the train - the Free Tibet people have an excellent web page for ditherers like me and after giving all the pros and cons on the ethics of visiting Tibet they flat out call for a boycott of the train. So, that was it really. I feel bad now that I was really looking forward to the train journey! I love trains.

But however, I am consoling myself with another trip. I'd already paid a deposit, so rather than lose it I applied it to a tour of Bhutan, aka Land of the Thunder Dragon, aka The Last Shangri-La. The trip starts in Calcutta and also takes in Darjeeling and Sikkim, so it will be pretty interesting. The scenery of course is spectacular and the people seem pretty charming.
