This is the view from the plane, flying in to Edinburgh airport on Thursday afternoon. I'd been on the go for what felt like several days but was something over 24 hours. It was roasting hot in Auckland when I left, fairly warm in LA (not that we were allowed outdoors), chilly in London. Edinburgh - argh, freezing. The taxi driver said the main snowfall on Wednesday was spectacular. My flight had been delayed because there was only one de-icing machine working at Heathrow. The next day a lot of short-haul flights were cancelled because of snow on the runways, so my timing was pretty good.
